It’s been a while since I’ve posted on this blog and it’s not been because I haven’t wanted to. My life has been so busy lately that I’ve not had a chance to breathe!!!! I do apologise for the lack of content. If you read a little more below, you will understand why!!!!
1. Finished College
I had my final exams and assessments at college during the month of May to complete my HNC in Patisserie. We had three hours to make the following items
- 4 x individual quiche
- 4 x marignan
- 4 x dessert with genoise sponge and tempered chocolate decoration
I chose to make a red pepper and onion quiche with feta cheese, marignans decorated with chantily cream and a chocolate collar filled with a chocolate orange mousse, chocolate genoise sponge and a cointreau sauce. I will not know until the middle of June if I’ve passed my course or not but the photos below are what I produced on the day of the exam.
2. Finished work
After working eight months in the five star, Blythswood Square Hotel & Spa in Glasgow as a pastry chef, I left the position to take on a new job in Barcelona. Working in the kitchen was hard work, but I did enjoy it and learned so much! I worked with some great people who I will never forget. The one thing that I certainly wont miss is having to collect all the dirty tea towels at the end of the night……especially the ones covered in meat juice. That smell will not leave me!!!! Thank you to all the kitchen staff for your patience with me and I do miss you even if it´s only been a few weeks since I left!!!
3. Moved to Barcelona
I’ve been in Barcelona for over a week now and I’m just finding my feet after ten months out of the city. I started my new job at the Escribà Academy and I’m just about to sign a lease on a flat. I have come with only three suitcases so I hope that at some point soon I will be all settled in and I will need to buy a mini oven so I can do some baking!!! I have missed Barcelona and all the good things such as the dinners and the Sunday martini time!!!!
