Christmas cupcake toppers

14 Nov

We are already halfway through November which means Christmas is just a stone’s throw away. There is still plenty of time to get organised thankfully! If you are having any christmas celebrations, then I’m sure some christmas cupcakes will be on your buffet table. Normally I would spend lots of time making fondant decorations for my cupcakes but when you are organising a party, there is no time to sit and make individual decorations. However there is a quick and easy solution to make your cupcakes stand out on your buffet table!

The lovely Fleur, from Just Lift, Peel & Munch sent me a sheet of cupcake toppers to test out. Having never used these before I thought it was going to be complicated to use, however this was definitely not the case. Fleur specialises in edible cupcake toppers and sheets to cover decorated fondant cakes and her range of christmas toppers can be found here.

Using these toppers was really easy. All you have to do is get some fondant icing and roll it out to a thickness of around 4-5mm. Once it’s rolled out, cut the fondant using round pastry cutters. Leave the fondant circles to dry until they are firm otherwise the toppers will not stick to the fondant. Cut out the circular cupcake toppers and peel off the backing sheet. Dampen the fondant circles lightly with a little water and then place the cupcake topper on the fondant circle. The cupcake toppers are then ready to use!

In my house we don’t really like buttercream so I just put a little ganache underneath the toppers to attach them to my cupcakes, however they look fantastic sitting on top of a nice piped buttercream swirl.

Fleur sends her cupcake toppers to the UK only. Why not give these a go and see how you can jazz up your christmas cupcakes!!

The Diary of a Cake maker  received a sheet of cupcake toppers to test out. I am not required to write a positive review nor am I paid for this review.  Thank you Fleur for the toppers.

I’ve used Fleur’s fab toppers several times and they are brilliant! Especially for bespoke orders when I needed them custom made, highly recommended xxx

Thanks Jacqueline! I think they are a great alternative for those that don’t want big buttercream swirls but still want their cupcake to look nice.

Helen, I ordered some of Fleur’s great toppers too. I’m nervous about using them though as it’s not something I’ve tried before. Do you have any tips please by any chance, or any advice? Your cupcakes look great and I’m sure they will go down very well with family and friends at Christmas time :)
